Adult blue whales are the largest animals that ever lived, reaching 85 - 100 feet in length. This specimen, a subadult male which died of natural causes, measured 72 feet and is estimated to have weighed 70 to 80 tons. There are many exibits which, coupled with education and research programs, make the Museum one of Santa Barbara's treasures.
